Whitianga trip pics

Our very own Table Mountain at 4000 ft AMSL. Not nearly as grand as the one in South Africa but its ours.

Departing Whitianga from downwind, note the waterways development.

Another shot of the waterways, the airfield is to the right middle of the photo.

Flying mate Gav next to that other way to fly, only its twice as expensive. Gav has almost got his PPL (h) in the R22 but will fly in anything that goes up.

Yours truly giving the starboard oleos on FWS a workout. Archers are a great plane to fly and I think they look cooler than the Cessna 172. But I have no real preference for which one I fly.

The photos are in reverse chronological order, and the aerial shots were all taken on the return trip to Hamilton. This was because I left my camera in my bag and only realised where it was after we had taken off.

Oh man! Whitianga is another place I have fond memories of! Club comps, helping to organise nationals, and just general flying around. Awesome!

Whitianga is a great fly in spot, truly one of my favourites. It probably has the longest grass runway in the country so its very forgiving when you screw up the approach.

Hi Euan, thanks for the offer of a flight, that would be awesome! I've got exams for the next couple of weeks, but I'll drop you another comment after that.

Cheers, Jarred.

Thanks for the comment Euan, I've taken the advice onboard. My exams are almost over now so will have alot more time to go flying.

I was having a look through your Whitianga pics, gee that area is growing.

Thanks Euan.

Hey Euan, from what I've heard (from an instructor I think), the Alpha is quite a sensitive/responsive aircraft to fly compared to others, I guess thats common sense being being aerobatic.

I've actually got most of my hours in the clubs old 152's. I then had a big break before geting started on the Alphas. Long time since the 152's left, though :)

Thats certainly true. I read in the lastest Vector that EOQ was written off by a low time student after screwing up a bounced landing, and EJZ is about to head off shore to its new home in Australia.

Yes I read about EOQ, bit of a shame really. Would be interesting to know the number of students that have learnt to fly in it over the years.

Wondered where EJZ was off to, now I know...

There is a warm place in my heart for EJZ. I had my first flying lesson ever in it with Roger, Effects of Controls. I look at a 152 these days and wonder how on earth I managed to cram myself into it.

Yeah they are pretty damn cramped. Ah effects of controls, gees that was a while back even for me. I was with Greg for that.

Dont supose you know what he's up to now do you?
