Reading other blogs and internet forums it seems to me that the New Zealand club competitions are fairly unique in the range of competitive flying events available. I have read other countries only do aerobatics, circuits or spot landings.
Whatever it is that is available to you in your neck of the woods, I want to strongly recommend you give it a try. You may get to do something different for a change from the run of the mill flying from A to B, or, you get to practice those perishable skills like precision approaches.
